It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.
— Krishnamurti

true heroes

In times of false prophets, shallow influencers and manufactured experts, I want to highlight the true thinkers, artists, esoteric teachers and the brave self-reliant humans.

JOSEPH CAMPBELL AND THE POWER OF MYTH

A wonderful exploration of mythology throughout history and its great relevance in our world today.

A book as well as a conversational documentary in six episodes made in 1988 just before Joseph Campbell’s death. Now available on YouTube. A fascinating must see!

LIKE DREAMS

Myths are production of the human imagination.

Every myth is psychologically symbolic. Its narratives and images are to be read, therefore, not literally, but as metaphors.

Nothing on this earth is here to destroy us.
— Christiane Singer

MIRIAM LANCEWOOD

Miriam Lancewood and her partner Peter Raine lived in the New Zealand wilderness for many years. Watch her interviews and get a glimpse of what it would be like to live amongst nature.

RUDOLF STEINER

Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) was an Austrian occultist, social reformer, architect, esotericist, and claimed clairvoyant. He was a great master and most of his esoteric lectures are now available on a Youtube channel dedicated to his work. A fascinating journey if you want to learn more about the spiritual secrets of Life, Nature and the Cosmos.

However true it may be that we have estranged ourselves from Nature, it is nonetheless true that we feel we are in her and belong to her. It can be only her own working which pulsates also in us. We must find the way back to her again.

Rudolf Steiner

There will be in the next generation or so a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them but will rather enjoy it.
— Aldous Huxley

IN-SHADOW by LUBOMIR ARSOV

“In-Shadow, a Modern Odyssey” is the most most relevant and powerful piece of animation ever made.

Ahead of its time. A must watch if you dare to face your own shadow and the one collectively co-created by the artificial society we live in.

The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort.
To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real.
This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
— C.G. Jung

THE MAGIC OF BELIEVING

Phyllis Diller (1917-2012) was the first female stand up comic. She read the 1948 self-help book ‘The Magic of Believing” by Claude Bristol and said it changed her life.

When I moved to the US, I started watching a lot of classic American Comedy and I came across these interviews in 2012. That was the beginning of my metaphysical journey. Self-help was the baby step towards a deeper soul search.

Other great self-help books from the same area include -but not limited to

  • The Game of Life and how to play it by Florence Scovel-Shinn

  • The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale

  • You can work your own Miracles by Napoleon Hill

  • The Cosmic Power within you by Joseph Murphy

  • The Power of Imagination by Neville Goddard

ANATOMY OF AN ILLNESS

Phyllis also loved the book “Anatomy of an illness” by Norman Cousins. Written in 1979, it describes how the author cured himself from a a life threatening illness through laughter. The Mind can achieve anything if you learn how to use it.

SMILE

Phyllis recorded this version of Charlie Chaplin’s Smile with The Pink Martini before her death. Her last message to this world.

Trust your instincts. Do the unexpected. Find the others.
— Timothy Leary
