we all believe

by François-Xavier Noah

People with no spiritual belief in a higher power or in a creator are still living their lives according to strong beliefs. Those beliefs create an actual religion - according to its real definition : a particular system of faith and worship. All of humanity believes in something.

First, they firmly believe in science. Not just as a pursuit of knowledge based on evidence but as a definite proof of truth by essence. They believe life ends with the death of the physical body and they believe life has no meaning besides the meaning we give it.

In a nutshell they believe Man is better than any imaginary Gods. Man knows best. Man has not created life or himself, but he could now.

Man as the guardian of Life. Many ancient traditional tribes naturally knew they were part of a higher order and lived according to those principles. They knew Man was created as the Eye and as the Guardian of the earth. Not as an entitled land owner who walks the earth with no respect for its sacred nature.

They have relinquished any belief in the invisible or in magic that they just consider nonsensical. Unless it’s on Netflix for their entertainment. They may only pray if some tragedy occurs. The rest of the time, Man is at the centre of their belief. Man is the ultimate authority. They have Faith in the truth he conveys. They believe their evolved society knows it all or is on its way to bring definitive and realistic proofs of the origins of Life. Through science, they can prove life is random and your existence is a consequence of random events with no value or real perennial meaning.

In their everyday life, it usually means they consider nature like a commodity. Since Man is at the top of the pyramid, everything on the planet is here for his own use. The mineral, vegetal and animal life are only here to serve him. Earth belongs to him. Men are land owners.

Man and Nature are not separated. The marriage between creativity and harmony is what makes Life magnificent.

They also believe they are a mere sack of meat and bones, rotting away towards a dark grave. The ultimate betrayal. The ultimate fear. This belief explains why their fear of death controls the entire content of their existence. Why they spend their lifetime chasing time and happiness. They seek power, crave achievements and use consumerism as ways to escape that fate and fulfill their otherwise empty existence. A life without a spiritual connection to a higher realm means a life where people are compelled to take as much as possible before the end game. Pleasure, fun, distractions, adrenaline pursues and always more money, they need the whole package and can never get enough. They get greedy. They get anxious when the lights come off and they remain alone in silence. That’s why the noise must never stop. They must never face their shadow. The soul being an illusion created by the mind, they must fill the void at all times. The schedules must be hectic, they need to surround themselves with people, entertainment, affairs, business deals, travels and more. Life is a constant chase to have more stuff. To be a winner in a game that has little meaning besides an artificial sense of pride, fame and other fleeting rewards.

owl on a wire this owl may be on a wire created by man but it will only answer to one immutable reality. The very same reality all living organisms belong to.

We live in a society where a lot of believers in a higher entity end up behaving like the “non-believers” I just described. Their connection to a God is theoretical or shallow. Or their connection to a spiritual belief involves mostly “self-help” practices, another form of modern consumerism. Their core values belong to the material world first and foremost. The combination of those two groups makes for the majority of humankind in this day and age. Their vision forms a certain level of consciousness. They collectively take the world towards a direction based on those materialistic beliefs. Hence the current obsession with technology, AI and transhumanism. Anything goes. In this material world, HAVING has a million times more worth than BEING. They worship their system of enslavement.

Look up ! Our skies look like this everyday and we all act like it’s normal. Man thinks he can dump stuff in the ocean, mess up the skies with artificial canopies or take from the earth with impunity and without consequences. Until he pretends to care about the environment to gain more power and more control over the perception of the masses.

Many humans have lost their connection to the sacred nature of life and to their own divinity. I know this just sounds like hippie gibberish for a lot of people. They also have lost trust in their own instinct. They don’t know who they are or why they are here. Instead of being part of the natural world and its mysteries, they have severed their invisible link to the unknown and the magic of creation. They have lost the ability to simply be.

What we all have in common is the irrepressible need to be connected to something. So the ones that reject the divine concept are also connected. To a religious artificial system created by the society they live in. They believe in experts, they need the media to give them information about the state of the world, they assume their health comes from outside sources, they believe they don’t answer to the same rules and laws as all the other elements of life on earth.

Natural laws are real

A rebellious choice indeed. A bit like if a spider was suddenly making a Picasso-like web, or if birds started to fly backwards, they believe they can create whatever they want and make up their own rules, regardless of the immutable order of Life. Yet, you can observe this order in action on every level in nature. But to do that, you’d have to look away from your phone for a minute. The truth is that most people hate nature at its core. They find it flawed and believe they ought to re-create it according to their narcissist needs. They actually hate themselves, too scared to dive in and examine their soul in order to face who they truly are.

Disorder, chaos and disharmony follow. NATURALLY.

Faith and beauty now go against the new order. They must be mocked and ridiculed.
